WhatsApp previews a 24hrs disappearing messages option
The secure messaging giant WhatsApp introduces new features now and then. The Facebook-owned messaging app added the option of disappearing messages recently. However, the only option available at that time was for the messages to vanish after seven days. The users cannot adjust the time according to their priorities and preference at that time.
Facebook noticed the issue, and now they are planning to expand the choices of time-period of messages after they get disappeared or vanished.
How it works?
An upcoming version of the feature with an additional 24-hour option was spotted in development. The new feature is currently being tested and should release much sooner than expected. The messaging platform hasn’t officially confirmed the coming of the feature yet, but it should very soon consider the rumors.
WhatsApp is planning to add a 24-hour format to the existing feature. This means, soon, once the feature is live, users will be able to select the timing when they want a particular message/conversation to get deleted automatically. It is suggested that the 24-hour disappearing message option will be added in the existing disappearing messages tab.
The Disappearing messages feature is currently available for individual chats only. However, some rumors are there that claim the feature will soon release for groups as well. Other rumors further suggest that the disappearing messages option will soon be released for images as well. This means users will soon be able to set an image/image to a disappearing message so that they get deleted automatically.
Exactly when the 24-hour disappearing option shows up wasn’t revealed. But if it’s showing up in a working UI, I’d estimate it’s no more than a couple of months away from landing in a beta build. I am assuming, of course, that it makes it out of the testing phase.
